Thai Strawberry Curry Experiment
About a year ago, after eating every curry on the menu — avocado, pineapple, etc — at Araya’s Place in Seattle, I asked them if they ever made a strawberry curry. Well they hadn’t, until yesterday when then suprised me with one. The presentation was great and the sauce was really amazing, but there is something odd about a hot strawberry, so I don’t think we will...

Getting my brakes checked at Kito Auto Sport
Need new front brakes. I highly recommend Kito and his crew. They have a brand new shop and do excellent work. I’ve been going to them for years with no complains. Located in Ballard. http://kitoautosport.com Posted from JaxonBrooks.com
RAW Images: Flickr vs SmugMug vs Picassa
An Open Letter to SmugMug: My previous images are all already on Flickr. I recenty started shooting in RAW format, so I was looking for a place to store them and use them like JPEGs. I looked into SmugMug and Piccassa, because Flickr doesn’t support RAW formats. After some research and testing, I see now that there is a real “RAW problem” in that no one has a good solution...
Themed Composite Photographs: People on the Street...
Danish photographer Peter Funch stakes New York City street corners out for two weeks at a time, taking pictures of passersby from the very same spot. He then uses Photoshop to composite the results into single images. http://www.v1gallery.com/artist/show/3 Posted from JaxonBrooks.com

Jaxon and His Morning Coffee, Take 1
Bity handed me a pad of paper with “Jaxon and His Morning Coffee Take 1” written on it, so I went with it. Focusing proved a little problematic, but in some parts added to the effect. Posted from JaxonBrooks.com

Where are the best locks and bagels in Seattle?
I would think that a place that makes the bagels on the premises and gets fresh fish daily would be a good start. I am looking for them for Bity. Posted from JaxonBrooks.com
Everything you could ever want to know about short...
URL Shorteners: Which Shortening Service Should You Use? “URL shortening services are experiencing a renaissance in the age of Twitter. When every character counts, these services reduce long URLs to tiny forms. But which is the best to use, when so many are offered and new ones seem to appear each day? Araya's Place gets rave review in The Stranger
A Bloodless Coup Two of Seattle’s FUBU Vegetarian All-Stars “For that fabled special meal, vegetarians could hardly do better than Araya’s Vegetarian Place (1121 NE 45th St, 524-4332), a University District mainstay I’d heretofore stupidly ignored. Plunked down on 45th Street within spitting distance of the Ave, Araya’s was, I assumed, a collegiate vegetarian...

Staying Late at Work
Sometimes after work, long after the work is done, I just get stuck. I zone out and I don’t realize how much time has passed. 2 1/2 hours after my workday is done, I am still here. Why? Posted from JaxonBrooks.com

Finally Watched The Big Lebowski
Bryan saw my last post and invited me over to see The Big Lebowski. Turns out that I still have the DVD he left at my house, imploring me to watch it. I should have taken him up on it earlier. I think it’s going to be one of those hand full movies I will want to watch more than once. Posted from JaxonBrooks.com
Burnt Bacon
I didn’t do much today, as expected, even though I took a half-assed attempt at exorcise at the Zoo. At least I am at home alone in a house that still smells of burnt bacon. It’s a vegan’s dream. Oh well, to lazy to leave the house. Posted from JaxonBrooks.com
First Week at the New Job
Best friends of Christine and I had a baby this morning. It’s Friday at 7pm and I am just going home after my first week at the new job. I am exhausted, but I got a lot of work done this week and I can safely say that I am very happy. Posted from JaxonBrooks.com

Why would I want to do a short personal video?
Now that we are all using social media using text (twitter, facebook), music (myspace, last.fm) and photos (flickr, twitpix); why not video? Why would I want to do this? Posted from JaxonBrooks.com
On my way to Top Pot, discovered Caffe Bella
Saved me about five blocks of walking. Phew. It used to be Cafe Vita, then Cafe Fiore. They use Cafe Vita beans. Strong, free wifi. Decent number of outlets. They serve Mike’s Eastcoast Deli sandwiches, which are great. Mike ” the sandwich guy” delivers them daily. www.caffe-bella.com Posted from JaxonBrooks.com

Amazing vegan wheat-free baked treats from Chaco...
Organic too. Of course, they have a bigger selection. This is just what I bought today. Flying Apron deserts are way too sweet for my taste. PCCs switch to palm oil made their previously decent deserts waxy and flavorless. Posted from JaxonBrooks.com
View from my desk, including actual Monorail train
I need to bring in a real camera and stitch together the whole view on a sunny day, including the Space Needle. It’s also a perfect scene for a tilt-shift lense. Posted from JaxonBrooks.com
